Hayley McKelveyGeneral Manager & Coach -- Hayley is a 2x Olympian and former member of the Canadian Senior Women’s National Water Polo Team. She began her water polo journey in BC and went on to compete at the NCAA Div 1 level with USC, where she won 2 national championships and earned her bachelors degree. With extensive international playing experience and a passion for mentorship, Hayley has transitioned into coaching and leadership roles, working with athletes of all ages across Canada. As General Manager and Coach at Surrey Water Polo Club, Hayley is committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance environment where athletes can thrive both in and out of the pool! | Marie AndersonHead Coach - Competitive Women -- Marie has coached water polo in the Lower Mainland for the better part of the last eight years after getting her start with the North Delta Sunfish. She has been lucky enough to both coach and assist teams that have won Provincial, Western Canadian, and National medals over that time and has worked with many talented coaches and athletes. Marie has experience coaching at all age levels, as well as position specific goalie training. Marie is very excited to jump back into the water polo world and use her passion for helping athletes discover their confidence and grow their skills. | Vlad SoslovskyiDevelopment Coach -- Vlad is joining the SWP coaching staff for his first season with the Club. With more than 10+ years of professional athlete experience and 15+ years of coaching experience, Vlad is a great addition to our pool deck. Vlad has played professionally in Ukraine, Turkey, Greece and Saudi Arabia. From the moment you meet Vlad his kindness, passion and knowledge of water polo is evident. With a Bachelor's degree in Teaching & Physical Education, Vlad is able to connect with teams of all ages to focus on swim and water polo basics. |
Yuri CowieLead Coach - Development Team -- Yuri has been involved in water polo for 15 years as an athlete, referee, and coach. She began her career with the Haney Neptunes in Maple Ridge, later joined Fraser Valley Water Polo, and went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level with California State University, Northridge. Yuri graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2021 and a Bachelor of Education in 2023. This is her fourth year coaching with Surrey Water Polo, where she has worked with athletes across various age groups and will be leading the 14U girls program this season. Currently a secondary teacher, Yuri brings her passion for teaching, leadership, and sport into every practice. With her extensive experience both in and out of the pool, she is excited to continue sharing her knowledge and love of water polo with the next generation of athletes. | Liam MilneCoach - Development Team -- Liam, also known as Moose has been involved in Water Polo for the past 12 years as a player and Coach. Starting his career as a goalie with Burnaby Barracudas and Pacific Storm where he then began to play as their starting hole-set, centre position. Following his last year of U18 he began to dedicate his time to coaching athletes and helping them better their skills as well as attending Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Liam’s last couple years of coaching has included developing young athletes new to the sport, Coaching and co-leading the Burnaby Barracudas Water Polo program as well as assisting with the Girls program at Pacific Storm. Liam (Coach Moose) is looking forward to his first year with Surrey Water Polo and hopes to help bring passion, understanding and a love for water polo to all athletes. | Taylor LaineAssistant Coach - Comp Women -- Taylor is excited to be back for her 4th season with Surrey Water Polo Club. She is excited to continue working with 16U/18U Comp Women’s programs, but is also thrilled to be helping out again with the 10U/12U divisions on Fridays. Outside of Surrey Water Polo, Taylor is still extremely involved in water polo through Coquitlam Lions and Coquitlam Sharks as the Head Coach of both programs. Her goal is to make sure as many athletes as possible are able to grow, learn and develop not only their water polo skills but their life skills too! |

He has participated in numerous FINA masters tournaments, and is currently also a Water Polo Canada NCL referee. As a coach, Evgeni hopes to help instil a love for the sport while also fostering a competitive spirit in each of his athletes. His wealth of experience will be a significant benefit to our high performance program, benefiting not only our athletes individually but also elevating the overall energy and enthusiasm of our team. Evgeni has been a key piece of the SWP coaching staff and we are thrilled to have him back for another season! | Jacob LucciAssistant Coach - All Programs -- Jacob began his water polo journey at just eight years old with Sunfish Water Polo. At age 12, he transitioned to the West Coast Warriors, where he quickly made his mark. In 2018, Jacob was named MVP and top goal scorer at the 14U Western National Championship. The following year, he played a pivotal role on the Warriors' 16U team, helping them secure a silver medal at the National Championship and finishing as the team's second-highest goal scorer.
